..."massively comforting and warm inside. That goes for both the staff here and the

interior bars. I've spent so many happy nights here!...Those I can remember of course!...

"It's like being in an episode of 'Heartbeat'!..."

"The quiz nights are absolutely fantastic. It's a real community spirit here..."

"The Bush has the atmosphere that so many of Cockermouth's pubs have lost in recent years..it's the place you really want to come and have some excellent quality pub food

enjoy the banter and live music night's are a real treat..."

"It's the small touches that you notice...a display of magazines, the fact they sell sweets alongside the crisps and nuts, and the cosy throws on a cold night in front of the roaring fire are magic! These are the things that make The Bush so different. It's great for kids too, and any dogs I've seen in the pub are always well behaved!.."

SO WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?

There are lots of pubs in Cockermouth. Some boarded up, some driven down, some just a long distant memory. The Bush Cockermouth is one much loved phoenix now rising from the ravages of recent years. From Covid, through to Floods and Council misdemeanours, this pub is finally on the up! So let's not just beat around the Bush....let's jump right in!

Paula  and Tim (respectively) and their most warm and welcoming team (and not a single criminal record amongst them, no matter what you hear..) which includes Michelle, Leah, Hannah, Gemma and Claire, welcome the people of Cockermouth in a friendly and smiley way. "Aye, Its a grand laal pub" you’ll often hear people say when they're relaxing in our spacious bar areas. Here you’ll find Tim in the kitchen (a temporary measure, but a good one!... with new chef Paul due very shortly) and landlady Paula who as well as pulling pints, is just as likely to come and chat to you about that and this, while you're enjoying the wonderful pub fayre...and very good company she is too!

It's these ingredients that wraps The Bush into a perfect package of what any traditional Northern town pub should be… a place you’ll want to call your local… whether you're just visiting Cockermouth, or live round the corner. The other jewel in an ever increasingly sparkly crown is the re-introduction of live music at the pub. Showcasing local talent in a different light each week… always different, but always good! We also have Cask Ale night on Monday, and bottles of Prosecco reduced to £11.99 on 'Fizz Friday!' Don't forget this website is where you can keep up to date with all the activities here at The Bush.

PEOPLE WHO LOVE THIS PUB, AND WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY FOR THEMSELVES...

There is a post box in the pub, but as we can no longer get a horse through the door, collections are unlikely.
